About Us
We’re Dan and Melissa, owners of Boundless Horizon Puppies based in Millersburg, Ohio, since 2022. We place Cavapoo, Maltipoo, and Teddy Bear puppies with Wheeling and Ohio County families through a vetted network of family home raisers, never a commercial facility. We evaluate every home raiser in person before any litter is placed.
Wheeling is the seat of Ohio County and West Virginia’s first state capital, serving in that role from 1861 to 1870 and again from 1875 to 1885 after the Wheeling Conventions led the state’s split from Virginia. Iron mills along the Ohio River earned the city the nickname “Nail City” in the late 1800s, and the National Road and the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad fueled its growth into a manufacturing hub. Today Oglebay Resort’s 1,700 acres and three separate Fitzsimmons Family Dog Parks give Wheeling some of the best dog-friendly infrastructure of any city we serve. Read about our ENS training program, our 2-year health guarantee, and our placement process.

Quite a few of our Cavapoo families in Wheeling work in the healthcare and professional jobs clustered downtown and around WVU Medicine Wheeling Hospital, often on shifts that don’t match a standard 9-to-5. A Cavapoo’s easygoing, people-oriented temperament handles shift work reasonably well, but the breed still bonds closely and can develop separation anxiety past 8 to 10 hours alone. If your household’s combined time away runs longer than that, talk to us about a midday dog walker before you reserve.

At 5 to 15 pounds, a Maltipoo fits well in Wheeling’s historic downtown apartments and the older housing stock around Woodsdale, and it settles in just as easily out in Elm Grove or Warwood. Its low-shedding coat is an easy fit for busy households with less time for grooming upkeep than a bigger dog demands, and its modest exercise needs work well around a shift-work schedule — two short walks a day is plenty. The tradeoff at that size is real fragility, so supervision around young kids and larger dogs still matters regardless of housing.

Wheeling’s retirees and longtime residents — many settled in the older neighborhoods around Woodsdale and Edgwood since the city’s manufacturing heyday — make up a good number of our Teddy Bear buyers, people looking for a calm, devoted companion rather than a high-energy dog to keep up with. At 9 to 15 pounds with modest exercise needs, a Teddy Bear is an easy fit for a smaller Wheeling home, and it settles into a quieter daily routine without trouble. The real commitment is the daily eye and dental care, not exercise, and it becomes routine fast.

Summer
July highs typically run around 84°F along the Ohio River. Walks are comfortable most of the day, but shift the hottest afternoons to morning or evening anyway.

Grooming Cost in Wheeling
Professional grooming every 4 to 6 weeks runs approximately $48 to $72 per session in the Wheeling market. Wheeling, West Virginia Puppy FAQ
Do you deliver puppies to Wheeling, West Virginia?
Yes. We deliver Cavapoo, Maltipoo, and Teddy Bear puppies to Wheeling and all of Ohio County for a flat $599. Or pick up at Deer Run Park, 3102 Glen Drive, Millersburg, OH 44654. Reserve with a $200 refundable deposit.
What cardiac health testing do the Cavapoo parents have?
Both Cavapoo parents follow the MVD Breeding Protocol: no Cavalier bred before age 2.5 without a clear cardiac evaluation, and no dog bred if either parent showed signs of mitral valve disease before age 5. Your Wheeling vet should begin annual cardiac auscultation at age 2.
How big do Maltipoo puppies get?
Adult Maltipoos usually reach 5 to 15 pounds, small enough that falls, rough play, and larger dogs all carry more risk than they would for a bigger breed. Supervise playtime with young kids and bigger dogs.
Why do Teddy Bear puppies need daily eye care?
Teddy Bear puppies get their round, prominent eyes from the Shih Tzu side, and those eyes collect debris and develop tear staining more easily than most breeds. A daily wipe with a damp cloth and keeping hair trimmed away from the eyes prevents most issues.
What is the weather like in Wheeling, West Virginia?
Wheeling averages around 20 inches of snow a year, with January highs typically near 38°F. July highs typically run around 84°F. Plan walks for morning or evening from June through August.
