About Us

We’re Dan and Melissa, owners of Boundless Horizon Puppies based in Millersburg, Ohio, since 2022. We place Cavapoo, Maltipoo, and Teddy Bear puppies with Marion and Grant County families through a vetted network of family home raisers, never a commercial facility. We evaluate every home raiser in person before any litter is placed.

Marion sits where the Mississinewa River bends through downtown, and the Mississinewa Riverwalk through Matter Park is still the heart of the city’s outdoor life. Grant County’s pace is slower than the Indianapolis suburbs we also serve, and it’s also home to Indiana Wesleyan University, which brings a steady mix of staff and faculty households into the local housing market alongside longtime Marion families. Read about our ENS training program, our 2-year health guarantee, and our placement process.

Cavapoo cardiac health: The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel side carries a genetic predisposition to mitral valve disease (MVD). Both Cavapoo parents follow the MVD Breeding Protocol: no Cavalier bred before age 2.5 without a clear cardiac evaluation. Your Marion vet should begin annual cardiac auscultation at age 2.

A fair number of our Marion Cavapoo families commute out of Grant County for work, to Kokomo, Anderson, or Fort Wayne, which usually means longer days away from home than a strictly local job would. A Cavapoo’s easygoing temperament handles a normal 9-to-5 absence just fine, but it’s worth being honest about the tradeoff: Cavapoos bond deeply and can develop separation anxiety when left alone 8 to 10 hours a day. If a long commute plus a full workday adds up to more than that, talk to us about a walker or daycare plan before reserving.

Maltipoo size means real fragility. Adult Maltipoos usually reach 5 to 15 pounds, small enough that falls, rough play, and larger dogs all carry more risk than for a bigger breed. Supervise time with young kids and big dogs.

Indiana Wesleyan University brings a steady stream of staff, faculty, and grad-program students through Marion, and a good share of our Maltipoo calls come from that group looking for a small, low-shedding dog that fits a rental house or an apartment near campus without much fuss. We hear from plenty of longtime Marion residents too, especially anyone managing a mild dog allergy in the house. The tradeoff at that size is real fragility, so young kids and bigger dogs still need supervision.

Teddy Bear eye and dental care: Teddy Bear puppies get their round, prominent eyes from the Shih Tzu side, and those eyes need a daily wipe-down to prevent tear staining and debris buildup. The same jaw structure also crowds teeth, so daily brushing and a dental cleaning schedule with your vet matter more than for most breeds.

A good number of our Teddy Bear conversations in Marion come from people who raised their families here and have stayed put through the city’s ups and downs, and who want a calm, low-key dog rather than a project. We also hear from Indiana Wesleyan retirees who moved to Marion for the university years ago and never left. Either way, the daily eye and dental routine is the real ask, not the exercise level, and most people find it manageable once they know it’s coming.

Grant County Weather

Winter

Grant County sees around 28 to 34 inches of snow a year, with January highs in the low-30s°F. A lined vest handles most cold-weather walks comfortably for all three breeds.

Summer

Summers are hot and humid, with July highs typically in the mid-to-upper 80s°F. Shift walks to before 9am or after 7pm from June through August.

Heartworm Prevention

Mosquito season in north-central Indiana runs roughly April through October. Ask your Marion vet about year-round prevention rather than seasonal dosing, since a mild winter can shorten the safe off-season.
