Cavapoo, Maltipoo & Teddy Bear Puppies Near Louisville, Kentucky
We’re Dan and Melissa, owners of Boundless Horizon Puppies, based in Millersburg, Ohio, established 2022. We place Cavapoo, Maltipoo, and Teddy Bear puppies with families across Kentucky and the rest of the country through a vetted network of family home raisers, rather than running a kennel ourselves. Dan evaluates every home raiser personally and is your direct contact from first inquiry through delivery and for the life of your dog.
Louisville is Kentucky’s largest city and the state’s bourbon and Derby capital. Churchill Downs, the Highlands’ walkable bars and restaurants, and the NuLu arts district all draw a mix of downtown professionals, University of Louisville students and staff, and families out toward the East End. Read how our placement process works.
We’ve placed puppies with law students near the University of Louisville campus, retired Derby volunteers out in the East End, and bourbon-industry families in the Highlands, and no two of those homes needed the same breed. That’s the whole reason we bring all three options to Louisville instead of picking one for the city. Every puppy comes with ENS neurological training from days 3 through 16 and a 2-year written health guarantee.
Cavapoo Puppies for Sale in Louisville
A lot of the Cavapoo interest we hear from Louisville comes out of the Highlands and downtown, where people put in long hours at a hospital, a law firm, or one of the bourbon companies headquartered here. That’s worth thinking about, since a Cavapoo bonds hard and doesn’t do well left alone for a full workday. Eight to ten hours alone on a regular basis brings on real separation anxiety in most Cavapoos. Coat care runs 2 to 3 brushings a week on an F1 puppy, more often on an F1b.

Maltipoo Puppies for Sale in Louisville
If you live in a condo downtown or in NuLu without much outdoor space, a Maltipoo is probably the easiest of the three to keep happy. It doesn’t ask for a yard and adjusts fast to a smaller footprint. The part people underestimate is the teeth: the jaw is small, tartar builds up quickly, and a puppy that misses nightly brushing in its first few weeks usually pays for it later with more expensive dental work.

Teddy Bear Puppies for Sale in Louisville
For Louisville retirees, especially the East End empty-nesters we hear from most, the Teddy Bear tends to be the easiest recommendation. Of the three breeds, it needs the least physical activity (a short walk covers it), and it doesn’t come with the cardiac monitoring a Cavapoo requires. The tradeoff shows up in maintenance instead of exercise: the coat mats if you skip brushing for more than a day or two, and the eyes need a wipe every morning without exception.

Louisville Weather: What to Actually Expect
Winter
Snowfall in Louisville stays modest by Midwestern standards (usually 13 to 16 inches across the whole winter), and a January afternoon typically sits in the low-to-mid 40s°F. That’s mild enough that none of these three breeds needs a jacket, though a damp coat after a walk is worth drying off before the dog settles onto the couch.
Summer
Summer is the harder season here. The Ohio River valley traps humidity in a way that makes an 89°F July afternoon feel worse than the number suggests, so plan walks for early morning or after the sun drops from June through August. The Cavapoo’s thicker coat feels it more than the other two.
Grooming Cost in Louisville
Budget $50 to $75 for a professional grooming session, scheduled every 4 to 8 weeks depending on the dog’s generation. Skip the daily home brushing between appointments and the coat gets away from you fast.

Questions Louisville, Kentucky Families Ask
Do you deliver Cavapoo, Maltipoo, and Teddy Bear puppies to Louisville, Kentucky?
We do, for a flat $599 covering all of Jefferson County, arranged personally in a private, climate-controlled vehicle rather than a shipping crate. A $200 refundable deposit reserves your puppy. Some families skip the delivery fee and meet us at Deer Run Park in Millersburg, Ohio (about 300 miles away) instead. Call (330) 238-8997 to talk it through.
What’s the difference between a Cavapoo, Maltipoo, and Teddy Bear?
Each is a small, low-shedding companion breed, and each asks for something a little different day to day. The Cavapoo needs lifelong cardiac monitoring. The Maltipoo is the smallest and most delicate, with dental upkeep as the daily job. The Teddy Bear is the mellowest of the three and needs the least exercise, though its eyes need daily attention.
What cardiac health testing do the Cavapoo parents have?
Mitral Valve Disease runs in the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel line, so we hold both parents to a strict standard before any litter happens: a Cavalier needs a clean cardiac workup past age 2.5, and either parent showing MVD before age 5 takes them out of our breeding program permanently. Once your puppy hits its second birthday, put annual cardiac auscultation on the calendar with your Louisville vet.
Is a Maltipoo a good fit for a downtown Louisville condo or apartment?
In most cases, yes. A full-grown Maltipoo rarely tops 15 pounds, so square footage and a yard aren’t really requirements. A downtown or NuLu condo works fine. The catch is the same small size that makes it convenient: it doesn’t take much to injure a dog that size, whether that’s a roommate’s larger dog or just a crowded space, so weigh that before you reserve.
Are Teddy Bear puppies a good match for Louisville retirees?
Often, yes. Among the three breeds, the Teddy Bear fits a slower daily pace best. It’s happiest indoors, one walk a day is plenty, and it skips the lifelong cardiac checkups a Cavapoo needs. What it trades that for is grooming: a morning eye wipe and a nightly tooth brushing are part of owning this breed, not optional extras.
How do these breeds handle Louisville winters and summers?
Snowfall in Louisville stays modest by Midwestern standards (usually 13 to 16 inches across the whole winter), and a January afternoon typically sits in the low-to-mid 40s°F. Summer is the harder season here: the Ohio River valley traps humidity in a way that makes an 89°F July afternoon feel worse than the number suggests, so plan walks for early morning or after the sun drops from June through August.
Can I pick up my puppy at Deer Run Park in Millersburg instead of paying for delivery?
You can. Deer Run Park is at 3102 Glen Drive, Millersburg, OH 44654, roughly 300 miles from Louisville by way of I-71 the whole distance through Cincinnati and Columbus. Pampered Paws Dog Park sits right on the grounds. A $200 refundable deposit reserves your spot. Call (330) 238-8997.
