Cavapoo, Maltipoo & Teddy Bear Puppies Near Lexington, Kentucky
We’re Dan and Melissa, owners of Boundless Horizon Puppies, based in Millersburg, Ohio, established 2022. We place Cavapoo, Maltipoo, and Teddy Bear puppies with families across Kentucky and the rest of the country through a vetted network of family home raisers, rather than running a kennel ourselves. Dan evaluates every home raiser personally and is your direct contact from first inquiry through delivery and for the life of your dog.
Lexington calls itself the Horse Capital of the World, and the name holds up. Keeneland’s meets draw crowds every spring and fall, and the Bluegrass region’s horse farms start almost as soon as the city grid runs out. Read how our placement process works.
Between University of Kentucky students and staff, professionals working downtown, and families settled on the horse farms just outside the city limits, we place puppies into a wider mix of households here than almost anywhere else in Kentucky. That range is exactly why we don’t push one breed over another in Lexington. Each of the three finds its own fit somewhere in that mix. Every puppy comes with ENS neurological training from days 3 through 16 and a 2-year written health guarantee.
Cavapoo Puppies for Sale in Lexington
Lexington’s horse farms keep a lot of people working from home or close to it (trainers, farm managers, breeders), and that kind of schedule suits a Cavapoo well. This breed bonds hard and doesn’t do well left alone for a full workday; eight to ten hours alone on a regular basis brings on real separation anxiety in most Cavapoos. A downtown professional with a long commute should think that through before reserving. Coat care runs 2 to 3 brushings a week on an F1 puppy, more often on an F1b.

Maltipoo Puppies for Sale in Lexington
Apartment living near the University of Kentucky campus or downtown is where a Maltipoo really shines. It doesn’t need a yard, and its small size makes it easy to manage in a building with stairs or a small elevator. The catch is dental care: the jaw is small, tartar builds up fast, and skipping the nightly toothbrush in those first few weeks tends to catch up with the dog later.

Teddy Bear Puppies for Sale in Lexington
This is usually the breed we point Lexington retirees and empty-nesters toward, especially those settled out on the horse farms where the pace is slower. It’s the calmest of the three, skips the cardiac monitoring a Cavapoo needs, and is satisfied with one easy walk a day instead of a run down the farm lane. What it needs in return is consistency: brushing most days so the coat doesn’t mat, and a daily eye wipe that can’t be skipped.

Lexington Weather: What to Actually Expect
Winter
A Lexington winter looks like most of central Kentucky’s. Figure on roughly 14 inches of snow for the season and January afternoons in the low 40s°F. None of these three breeds needs a coat for that kind of cold, but towel off a wet coat after a walk so it doesn’t linger in the house.
Summer
Summer is the season to plan around here. July highs average around 86°F, and central Kentucky humidity can make it feel warmer still. Walk earlier or later in the day from June through August, and pay extra attention to the Cavapoo’s thicker coat.
Grooming Cost in Lexington
Budget $46 to $70 for a professional grooming session, scheduled every 4 to 8 weeks depending on the dog’s generation. Skip the daily home brushing between appointments and the coat gets away from you fast.

Questions Lexington, Kentucky Families Ask
Do you deliver Cavapoo, Maltipoo, and Teddy Bear puppies to Lexington, Kentucky?
We do, for a flat $599 covering all of Fayette County, arranged personally in a private, climate-controlled vehicle rather than a shipping crate. A $200 refundable deposit reserves your puppy. Some families skip the delivery fee and meet us at Deer Run Park in Millersburg, Ohio (about 288 miles away) instead. Call (330) 238-8997 to talk it through.
What’s the difference between a Cavapoo, Maltipoo, and Teddy Bear?
Each is a small, low-shedding companion breed, and each asks for something a little different day to day. The Cavapoo needs lifelong cardiac monitoring. The Maltipoo is the smallest and most delicate, with dental upkeep as the daily job. The Teddy Bear is the mellowest of the three and needs the least exercise, though its eyes need daily attention.
What cardiac health testing do the Cavapoo parents have?
Mitral Valve Disease runs in the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel line, so we hold both parents to a strict standard before any litter happens: a Cavalier needs a clean cardiac workup past age 2.5, and either parent showing MVD before age 5 takes them out of our breeding program permanently. Once your puppy hits its second birthday, put annual cardiac auscultation on the calendar with your Lexington vet.
Is a Maltipoo a good fit for a University of Kentucky student or downtown renter?
It can work well. A Maltipoo tops out around 15 pounds and doesn’t need a yard, so a walk-up apartment near campus or a dorm-adjacent rental suits it fine. The tradeoff is the size itself. A dog this small can get hurt around a roommate’s bigger dog or in tight quarters, so that’s worth thinking through before you reserve.
Are Teddy Bear puppies a good match for retirees on the horse farms around Lexington?
It can be a great match. Out of the three breeds we place, the Teddy Bear asks the least of a Bluegrass retiree’s day. It’s an indoor dog at heart, one walk covers it, and there’s no cardiac monitoring like the Cavapoo requires. What it does need every day is a quick eye wipe and a nightly tooth brushing, neither of which you can really skip.
How do these breeds handle Lexington winters and summers?
A Lexington winter looks like most of central Kentucky’s. Figure on roughly 14 inches of snow for the season and January afternoons in the low 40s°F. Summer asks more of you: July highs average around 86°F, and central Kentucky humidity can make it feel warmer still, so shift walks to early morning or after dinner from June through August.
Can I pick up my puppy at Deer Run Park in Millersburg instead of paying for delivery?
