About Us
We’re Dan and Melissa, owners of Boundless Horizon Puppies based in Millersburg, Ohio, since 2022. We place Cavapoo, Maltipoo, and Teddy Bear puppies with Beckley and Raleigh County families through a vetted network of family home raisers, never a commercial facility. We evaluate every home raiser in person before any litter is placed.
Beckley is the seat of Raleigh County and southern West Virginia’s largest city, built on a coal-mining economy that once earned it the nickname the “Smokeless Coal Capital of the World” for the high-quality, low-volatile coal mined throughout the surrounding hills. That history is still on display today at the Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine, where visitors can ride a mantrip into a real reclaimed mine, and at Tamarack: The Best of West Virginia, the statewide artisan marketplace and welcome center right off I-77. Beckley has also become a gateway to the New River Gorge, redesignated a full U.S. National Park in December 2020, which draws hikers, climbers, and whitewater rafters from across the East Coast and gives Raleigh County families some of the best trail access in the region. A good share of our Cavapoo families in Beckley work in the healthcare sector anchored by Raleigh General Hospital, or in the outdoor-tourism jobs that have grown up around the New River Gorge — guiding, outfitting, and hospitality work that often runs long or irregular shifts. A Cavapoo’s easygoing, people-oriented temperament handles that kind of schedule well, but the breed still bonds closely and can develop separation anxiety past 8 to 10 hours alone. If your household’s combined time away runs longer than that, talk to us about a midday dog walker before you reserve.

At 5 to 15 pounds, a Maltipoo is genuinely portable — an advantage for the Raleigh County families who spend weekends at New River Gorge and want a dog small enough to bring along on a moderate trail or ride quietly in the car on the drive up. It also suits Beckley’s downtown apartments and smaller in-town homes, where a low-shedding, compact breed is often the easiest fit. The tradeoff is real fragility at that size, so supervision around young kids and larger dogs still matters regardless of housing.

Beckley’s established family and retiree households make up a good share of our Teddy Bear buyers here — people looking for a calm, devoted companion that fits a quieter daily routine rather than a high-energy exercise schedule. At 9 to 15 pounds with modest exercise needs, the Teddy Bear suits Beckley’s older in-town neighborhoods just as well as its newer subdivisions. The real commitment is the daily eye and dental care, not exercise, and it becomes routine fast.

Raleigh County Weather
Winter
Beckley’s elevation of roughly 2,500 feet — unusually high for southern West Virginia — brings heavier snow than most of the state, averaging around 40 to 60 inches a year, with January highs in the low-to-mid 30s°F. A lined vest on the coldest days and shorter, more frequent walks handle the heaviest Appalachian snow events better than one long outing for all three breeds.
Summer
Beckley summers are warm and humid with July highs in the mid-to-upper 80s°F, though the elevation takes some of the edge off compared to Charleston or Huntington. Shift walks to before 9am or after 7pm from June through August.
Heartworm Prevention
Mosquito season in the Beckley area generally runs April through October. Ask your Beckley vet about year-round prevention rather than seasonal dosing.
Grooming Cost in Beckley
Professional grooming every 4 to 6 weeks runs approximately $48 to $72 per session in the Beckley market. Daily brushing at home between appointments is non-negotiable for all three breeds, and daily tooth brushing from week one is the most effective prevention against dental disease, the primary long-term health cost in small breeds.

Beckley, West Virginia Puppy FAQ
Do you deliver puppies to Beckley, West Virginia?
Yes. We deliver Cavapoo, Maltipoo, and Teddy Bear puppies to Beckley and all of Raleigh County for a flat $599. Or pick up at Deer Run Park, 3102 Glen Drive, Millersburg, OH 44654. Reserve with a $200 refundable deposit.
What cardiac health testing do the Cavapoo parents have?
Both Cavapoo parents follow the MVD Breeding Protocol: no Cavalier bred before age 2.5 without a clear cardiac evaluation, and no dog bred if either parent showed signs of mitral valve disease before age 5. Your Beckley vet should begin annual cardiac auscultation at age 2.
How big do Maltipoo puppies get?
Adult Maltipoos usually reach 5 to 15 pounds, small enough that falls, rough play, and larger dogs all carry more risk than they would for a bigger breed. Supervise playtime with young kids and bigger dogs.
Why do Teddy Bear puppies need daily eye care?
Teddy Bear puppies get their round, prominent eyes from the Shih Tzu side, and those eyes collect debris and develop tear staining more easily than most breeds. A daily wipe with a damp cloth and keeping hair trimmed away from the eyes prevents most issues.
What is the weather like in Beckley, West Virginia?
Raleigh County’s elevation of roughly 2,500 feet gives Beckley heavier snowfall than most of West Virginia, averaging around 40 to 60 inches a year, with January highs in the low-to-mid 30s°F. Summers are warm and humid with July highs in the mid-to-upper 80s°F, though the elevation takes the edge off compared to Charleston or Huntington. Plan walks for morning or evening from June through August.
