We’re Dan and Melissa, owners of Boundless Horizon Puppies (based in Millersburg, Ohio, since 2022). We place Cavapoo, Maltipoo, and Teddy Bear puppies with families nationwide through a vetted network of family home raisers, never a kennel. Dan personally evaluates every home raiser before any placement, and stays the direct point of contact from your first phone call through delivery day, and for the life of your dog.

Harrisburg’s mix of state government employees, Penn State Harrisburg and HACC students and staff, and hospital workers from UPMC Harrisburg and the Hershey Medical Center area keeps demand for all three of our breeds steady year-round. Read how our placement process works.

Cavapoo Puppies

Cavapoo Puppies Available Now

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel × Poodle. Reserve with a $200 refundable deposit. Litters go quickly.

The Cavapoo settles in well around Harrisburg, whether that means a rowhome in Midtown, a Susquehanna Township yard, or a Hershey-area cul-de-sac. It sheds very little, warms up fast to kids and other pets, and asks for little beyond a daily walk and some lap time. Adults land between 8 and 25 pounds, so it fits a condo just as easily as a house with a yard.

A note on cardiac health: the Cavalier King Charles side of a Cavapoo’s genetics carries a known risk for Mitral Valve Disease, the leading cause of early death in the breed. We follow the MVD Breeding Protocol on every parent dog: no Cavalier is bred before age 2.5 without a clear cardiac evaluation, and none is bred if a parent showed MVD before age 5. Ask your Harrisburg vet to start annual cardiac auscultation at age 2. It’s a manageable condition with the right monitoring, not a reason to avoid the breed, but it’s worth knowing before you commit.

The Maltipoo tops out around 15 pounds and sheds almost nothing, which is exactly why it works so well in a Harrisburg high-rise or a small Susquehanna Township condo. Households managing mild allergies do especially well with this breed. Just know the size cuts both ways: a dog this small can be seriously hurt by a fall off the couch, a rough toddler, or a big dog that hasn’t learned to be gentle.

Size means real fragility. If your household has kids under 4 or a large dog that hasn’t been trained around small animals, call us before you reserve. We’ll have an honest conversation about timing.

Teddy Bear (Shichon) Puppies

Teddy Bear Puppies Available Now

The Teddy Bear is the calmest of the three breeds we place, a good match for Harrisburg retirees, single professionals working downtown, or anyone who wants a companion dog without a lot of energy to burn. It’s content with a daily walk and a lot of couch time, and its dense, plush coat holds up well through a Harrisburg winter once it’s used to a jacket.

Eye care is a daily habit, not an occasional one. The Shih Tzu side of this cross gives Teddy Bears prominent eyes that collect debris and stain more than most breeds. Wipe the inner corners daily and keep hair trimmed away from the eyes. Ask your vet to check them at every annual visit.

Harrisburg Weather: What to Expect Year-Round

Winter

Harrisburg averages about 24 inches of snow a year, well below the totals in Pennsylvania’s lake-effect regions. January highs run in the upper 30s°F, with overnight lows dropping into the low-to-mid 20s. A lined coat for walks below freezing and paw wax or booties on salted sidewalks make a real difference for all three breeds, especially the Maltipoo, which loses body heat fastest at 5 to 15 pounds.

Summer

Summers here run warmer and more humid than Pennsylvania’s Great Lakes cities. July highs average around 85°F, with humid stretches common through July and August. Morning or evening walks work better than midday ones for all three breeds once the heat and humidity build.

Grooming Cost in Harrisburg

Professional grooming in the Harrisburg area runs about $45 to $80 per session. Cavapoos typically go every 6 to 8 weeks (F1b coats need it more often than F1), while Maltipoos and Teddy Bears do best every 4 to 6 weeks with daily brushing at home in between.

Questions Harrisburg Families Ask

How far is Harrisburg, Pennsylvania from Millersburg, Ohio?

About 317 miles, roughly a 6-hour drive. The route runs east from Holmes County on OH-83, then follows I-76 (the Ohio Turnpike and Pennsylvania Turnpike) across the state into the Harrisburg area. Delivery to Harrisburg and the surrounding area is a flat $599. You can also meet your puppy at Deer Run Park in Millersburg, Ohio, if you’d rather make the drive yourself.

Do you deliver Cavapoo, Maltipoo, and Teddy Bear puppies to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania?

Yes. We deliver all three breeds to Harrisburg and the surrounding area for a flat $599, arranged personally and driven in a private, climate-controlled vehicle, never sent as air cargo. Reserve with a $200 refundable deposit and call or text (330) 238-8997 to get on the schedule.

Can I pick up my puppy instead of having it delivered?

Yes. Families are welcome to meet their puppy at Deer Run Park, 3102 Glen Drive, Millersburg, OH 44654, which has the Pampered Paws Dog Park on site. From Harrisburg, take I-76 West (Pennsylvania Turnpike) across the state, continue onto the Ohio Turnpike, then head south on OH-83 into Millersburg. Plan on roughly 6 hours.

What health testing do the parent dogs have?

Every parent dog in our program goes through an OFA eye exam, a patella check, and a full genetic panel before we plan any litter. Cavalier-cross parents used for our Cavapoos also follow the MVD Breeding Protocol for cardiac screening. You’ll get complete health records with your puppy, and we never plan a litter from a parent with an unresolved health flag.

How much snow does Harrisburg get, and how do these breeds handle it?

Harrisburg averages about 24 inches of snow a year, considerably less than Pennsylvania’s lake-effect regions. All three breeds do well here with basic winter gear: a lined coat for walks below freezing, paw wax or booties on salted sidewalks, and a bit more caution on icy river-walk paths. January highs run in the upper 30s, so daily walks stay part of the routine through winter.

What does grooming cost in Harrisburg for these breeds?

Plan on $45 to $80 per session every 4 to 8 weeks depending on the breed and coat type, with Maltipoos and Teddy Bears on the more frequent end and F1b Cavapoos needing more upkeep than F1s. Between visits, brush 2 to 3 times a week at minimum (daily for Maltipoos and Teddy Bears) and start tooth brushing the first week home.
